Pony Club Members Centre

LAUREL VIEW PONY CLUB CENTRE

Pony Club Area Representative Mrs Liz Lowry and centre co-ordinator Miss Micha Gomes were present at the introductory evening on Wednesday 13th June 2007. They welcomed new members and their parents and gave a talk on what being a member of the Pony Club entails.

Club night is on Thursday evenings with a session for the youngest members from 4.00pm to 5.00pm, while those over seven years will have a session from 7.15pm to 8.15pm.

Whilst members enjoy improving their riding skills on their regular class lessons, the Pony club evening is dedicated to increasing their knowledge in a variety of related subjects and working for the various achievment badges.

There are now many Pony Club Centres in Area 17 and inter centre competitions are on the horizon.

WINTER 2009/2010 ACTIVITIES

All members are encouraged to represent the centre at the various Area competitions and other activities. The Dressage to Music teams are working hard to put up a good perfomance at the Charity Dressage Show on the 3rd January while other members are working towards places on the Centre Quiz team which we hope will put in a creditable performance at the area quiz in the new year.
In 2010 members will continue to work for various badges, and we hope to have fun with Pony Club Games as well as put forward some members for the Dengie Dressage and Show Jumping Competitions.
New members are welcome for the oncoming year.

DRESSAGE SUCCESS 2009

Congratulations to Pony Club members for their successful outings. Amy Neill qualified for the Dengie Dressage Final held at Knockagh View. Amy also travelled along with Aimee Davis and Connie Jordan
to the Area Dressage hosted by the East Down Branch at Tyrella. All three riders held their own and put in creditable performances as did the centre ponies on their trip away from home. Amy and Pippa finished 4th in their arena. After the serious stuff all went for a ride on the beach (that's why they really went) and both ponies and riders came home tired. Many thanks to Claudia for transporting the ponies and making herself available for the duration. We look forward next to the Home Championships being held on home territory. Watch out for the report. Abi Gill won her class at Danescroft, which qualified her to compete in the Para Dressage Championships held at Hartbury College in Gloucestershire where she was 2nd in her section and contributing to 2nd place for the team. Well done to Abi, all this was acheived on borrowed ponies.

PONY CLUB TEAM AT CHARITY DRESSAGE DAY

Members of the centre Pony Club received a standing ovation for their performance at the Charity Dressage day organised by Roma Oakes in aid of the RDA. The entetaining performance was provided by members Connie Jordan, Sophie Galloway, Aimee Davis, Kirsty Gildea, Katie McDonnell, Abi Gill and Nick Jordan 'aka' The Seven Dwarves. Their routine was set to Dwarves classic 'Dig, Dig, Dig'. Instructors Claudia and Laurel choreographed the display while Claire led the parents team to create the effective costumes.

TEST SUCCESSES

Pony club resumed after the Christmas break with a test day. Congratulations to Amy Neill, Stephanie Harper, Naimh Beattie, Christina Mackerel and Nicole McCammond who passed the 'D' Test and Nick and Connie Jordan, Tori and Hannah Blair, Victoria and Rebecca Beattie,Abigail Gill, Abigail Cairns, Emily Elliot, Alana McCartney, Michelle McErlain, Frances Synott, Amy Davis, Katie McDonnell and Sophie Galloway who all attained their Bronze level 3 award.

CHARITY DRESSAGE DISPLAY 2010

It was the turn of the Junior Section of the club this year. The group of enthusistic Hobby horse riders put on a crowd pleasing display led by Diane and Amanda. The perfomance received the loudest applause of the day. Well done team!

BADGE ACHIEVEMENTS 2010

A lot of work was put in by members to achieve two badges this year. Members researched Native pony breeds and Claire put together a folder of all their work. Diane organised visits of Working Dogs and members were introduced to a working dog for the Blind, a working sheep dog and a group of Police dogs as well as meeting Claire's Siberian Huskies. We also researched other types of working dogs and Claire put together a folder of all the information gathered. Well done to all members who participated.

AREA 17 TEAM QUIZ CHALLENGE
