BHS TRAINING COURSES
BHS Stage 1 Horse Knowledge, Care & Riding Course
This course is intended to prepare candidates for sitting their BHS Stage 1 Exam.
The course will cover all the subjects of the stage 1 exam and will be made up of 8 x 3 hr sessions.
Each session will include 2 hours of stable management and 1 hours riding.
By the end of the course, the candidate will understand the basic principles of horse care and have sound knowledge of riding on the flat and over poles.
All candidates must be capable of riding a quiet, experienced horse or pony in an enclosed space. They must be able to recognise riding on the correct diagonal and the correct canter lead.
Each course needs a minimum of 5 candidates and a maximum of 10 candidates to run.
BHS Stage 2 Horse Knowledge, Care & Riding Course
This course is designed to be taken as revision courses for candidates wishing to take the BHS Stage 2 examination. The candidate should be regular, confident riders, able to jump to a height of 2ft9ins and be able to lunge a quiet horse for exercise. Candidates must hold the BHS Stage 1 Riding and Horse Care & Knowledge certificate, NVQ Level 2 with schooling unit or the Pony Club B test.
The BHS Riding and Road Safety Test is required before taking the Stage 2 Exam.
The course will consist of 8 x 3hr evening sessions and 2 x 6hr day sessions.
Each evening session will include 2 hours of stable management and 1 hours riding. The two day sessions will consist of lunging, riding and stable management.
BHS PTT Course
This course is intended to prepare candidates for sitting their BHS PTT Exam.
The course will cover all the subjects of the PTT exam and will be made up of 10 x 3 hour sessions. Each session will include theory and teaching practice
The course is divided into two sections, after the first section there will be a break to allow the candidates to gain teaching practise.
Each course needs a maximum of 6 candidates to run.
The minimum requirement for this course is BHS Stage 2 / NVQ Level 2 with schooling unit.
